Stray Boots

One of my good friends from college shares my birthday which was last week.  Since Indiana Wesleyan always finishes the spring semester in April, we've never been able to celebrate together.  So we decided to celebrate this year and head to Chicago! It was a wonderful weekend with very missed friends.

We found a scavenger hunt called Strayboots.  It took us down the Magnificent Mile giving us tasks and trivia.

On our second day, we went to the lake and rented bikes to ride up and down the river.  On our way we found a cute street farmer's market.

The Lincoln Park Zoo is actually really good!  We saw giraffes, a polar bear, rhinos, and meerkats!

We went to the Cheesecake Factory for some delicious birthday cake.

It was so wonderful spending time with these wonderful ladies, since in a month and a half I will be headed to Indonesia and won't get to see them for a year.  But my heart is full.  Full of the love of these women who I have grown with the last four years.

My first one-way ticket and a college diploma

Every ticket that I have bought, whether to the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, France, or China has had a return ticket to bring me back home.  Now, I have a one way ticket.  A one way ticket to a tropical paradise where I expect to have some of the best, and some of the hardest moments of my life.  And I am not completely sure when I will come back.

I received an email the other day that officially announced that I will be a third grade teacher!  My mind is already swimming with ideas for what I want to do with my students, what I want to teach, how I want to set up my classroom, and the kind of environment I want to have in my class.  Hence, if you look at my Pinterest, most of my new pins are teaching ideas.

Teaching ideas and decoration ideas.  For the first time ever, I get an apartment of my own, and  a salary to use to furnish it.  As I sort through my old college decorations, I realize that my taste is changing... and I have a wonderful opportunity to start fresh... since extra bags cost $200 to bring over!

This time of transition is an interesting one.  On April 27 I graduated from college.  I can hardly believe that these four critical years of my life have come and gone.  It's amazing to look back and see how much I have changed.

One of the crazy parts of my moving to Indonesia, is that I get to go with one of my closest friends.   Janna has also accepted a job at SPH, but at one of the different campuses.  She's going to be such a wonderful kindergarten teacher!

So the two of us are getting ready to head off on our new adventure.

The next few weeks, when I'm not traveling with friends or family, I will be headed to doctor appointments, filling out insurance forms, and creating packing lists.  Bring it on!  Sixty-five days and counting!
